A Good Day

Today was a very busy, but fun day. It first started off with a really good breakfast. Something that I think will stick with me the most about today is when we went to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr's Memorial. 

It was really cool to see his home where he was born and raised but it was touchy being in the church where his mother was killed. 

I really think the Eternal Flame is Sweet, I've never seen one before so I also liked that. 

I really had fun at the colleges I visited also and I do plan on applying to them. I love how they have traditions and myths about things, and I like how everyone seemed friendly. After visiting colleges we went to CNN and it was really big and crowed there, maybe after 10 minutes I found a seat to eat lunch at. 

The mall was really fun, but really short. I really wish we could stay there longer. Dinner was really fun, I like how everyone had a good time together and we all sang and talked, I really enjoyed myself. I hope tomorrow is as great as today was.

Spel-Struck...

What I found interesting about today was going to Spelman college. I learned that it is a private school. Also i learned that it is an all girls school. Just because it is an all girls school, does not mean that you wont be able to see any boys. Moorehouse College is like right across from Spelman. I learned that the boys can be at the girls' campus until 12.

Also, I learned that Dr. Martin Luther King Jr got accepted into Moorehouse College at only 15. That is very young. He had to be very smart to be that young and still get into college. It was fun touring the different colleges today and I may consider going to one of them.

My Day

Today was a good day. We toured some really nice colleges, I liked them both especially the all female one. It was a nice experience and I learned some things also, The college seems really hard and like a lot of work but ends up being good in the long run. I also liked being able to go to MLK's house and seeing all this stuff for him too and the ever lasting flame. I liked listening through the headset (at the civil rights museum) also but it did startle me a little bit too. Going out to lunch was nice also at CNN's food court and they had one of my favorite restaurants which made it better, But it was hard because there were no tables around but later on we ended up getting one. And after all that we went to the mall. I was waiting to go there because I really wanted to go to the mall. It was a little hard having a time limited because there were so many stores I wanted to go to and I didnt know were everything was and we got lost a little and took a min in a couple of the stores but it was still fun and I got to get things from two stores. And then we went to dinner. It was nice, I liked it and I also got to see my family (who live locally) which was nice also. And that was my day!

HBCU College Tours

The girls explored Spelman College while the boys toured Morehouse. When starting the tour, all of the female students pronounced that they would never consider an all-women's institution. After the tour, several students are very interested in women's colleges, including Spelman.

Our next tour was at Clark Atlanta University - the first professional HBCU!

Our bus may have had a mishap yesterday, but luckily we were next to a gas station which allowed us to purchase cold beverages.

I Think I May Go to a HBCU

I guess some would say today was an "interesting" day. We can start off with the fact that I've been in the same clothes for over 24 hours, yuck, and on the same bus for equally as long give or take. I must say, the most memorable portion of our first day is getting stuck at an Alabaman gas station in 108° F temperature for 3 hours due to an engine belt snapping. All negativity aside, the experiences and knowledge I learned today is something I will keep with me for a very long time. Our tour of Alabama A&M University intrigued and persuaded me to apply to historically black colleges and universities which is something I never thought I would ever even consider to be on my radar. Although they don't have any medical sciences, I'm sure I could find something for me. I know I'm taking up your time so I'll leave describing the most amazing superstructure I've seen and the perfect place for astro nerds, like myself, The U.S. Space and Rocket Center. That place literally had anything a person curious in space and astronaut training would love, besides actual equipment, and is home to the INTERNATIONAL SPACE CAMP! Some of the rides featured at the center is their Mar's Simulation, G Force Simulation, and their famous Space Shot. Totally a destination I will take my children to in the future.

I'm grateful for this trip because there's not a lot of people who get this opportunity to go to different universities and it gives me a chance to look at where I want to go later in life when I get out of high school that's why I'm grateful for being on this trip.

I am grateful for this trip because it is an amazing experience. Everything is paid for and I get a chance to see Alabam's Campus. Today showed me I do not want to attend a college down south, it is TOO hot. Other than being too hot it is an awesome trip.
